1. Kevin McCarthy is out – who will be the next Speaker of the House?

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made history this week – though likely not in the way he wants. The House of Representatives, after a conservative Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz had filed a resolution to remove McCarthy as Speaker of House, voted on Tuesday to do so. The first time ever a House speaker has been removed through a vote.

It remains to be seen who will succeed McCarthy. Patrick T. McHenry is the current acting speaker. He’s a Republican from North Carolina who can only adjourn and recess House.

2. Strikes by more than 75,000 Kaiser Permanente Health Care Workers

More than 75,00 Kaiser Permanente workers took to the streets on Wednesday.
Launching a strike against America’s largest nonprofit health care organization.

The workers walked out of their workplace at 6 am local time. The unions responsible for the strike are the
