1. Israel and Hamas extend truce for two days

Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement to extend their truce by two days, according to Qatar’s foreign ministry, “under the same conditions reached before.” Israel and Hamas previously agreed to a four-day pause in fighting to facilitate the release of at least 50 women and children held hostage in Gaza, as well as 150 Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

Israel announced that for every 10 additional hostages released, a day would be added to the pause. Israel and the U.S. both plan to continue to pause drone flight over Gaza every day for six hours.

2. Children of Palestinian origin freed after hostage exchange

As part of the Hamas hostage swap deal, 39 Palestinians were released from Israeli prisons Sunday. Many of them were under 18 years old. Since then, many have accused Israeli forces brutal beatings and torture.

According to the UN, there are around 8,300 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
