1. The 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks
Twenty-two years on from the 9/11 terrorist attacks the number of people who died as a result of health complications is nearly the same as the number of those who died during the attack.
In a post on Facebook, the Uniformed Firefighters Association stated that since the September 11th tragedy “341 FDNY Members have died of rare cancers and illnesses caused by the toxic Dust at Ground Zero.”
FDNY has announced the addition of 43 new names to its World Trade Center memorial for those who passed away from illnesses related to 9/11. The names of firefighters, paramedics and EMTs were added.
2. Find earthquake victims in Morocco
After a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in the Moroccan High Atlas Mountains, more than 2,500 people were killed and 1400 critically injured.
The earthquake struck southwest of Marrakech late Friday night. On Monday, both international and domestic aid teams were still looking for survivors in remote mountain areas.
