“”Sit with It” Sit with it. Sit with it. Sit with it. Sit with it, even though you want run. Even when it’s heavy and difficult. Even though you’re not quite sure of the way through. Healing happens by feeling.” ~Dr. Rebecca Ray
It’s July 2022 and I’m in the middle of a red tent at Shambala Music Festival in British Columbia.
I am sitting elbow to arm, knee to leg, and heart-to heart with women I have never met before.
It’s hot and we’re sweaty.
The teacher leads a healing womb mediation, asking us to name a person who has hurt us, and then release them and their power over us.
I am coming up short, thinking…
“No one has caused me any Real Estate pain.”
“I don’t have any Real Estate trauma.”
“The pain I have experienced isn’t bad You can’t get enough.”
So, I focused my healing energy on two friends I thought needed more healing than I did.
Instantly, I realized what I was up to. I was defining friends by the perceived amount of trauma and pain they were experiencing and defining myself as someone who had no trauma or pain.
This way of thinking was familiar to me all my life.
