1. Department of Veterans Affairs launches online platform to honor veterans
In time for Veterans Day the Department of Veterans Affairs will expand a project to showcase stories of U.S. Service Members. The Department of Veterans Affairs is expanding a digital project to honor U.S. service members by showcasing their stories. Veterans Legacy Memorial Project (VLM) allows family members and friends to create pages for servicemen and women in their lives where they can upload photos and other tributes.
Veterans Affairs creates profiles with information about military service and cemeteries. Ten million veteran profiles had been created ahead of the holiday in this year. WBTV.
2. Gaza workers accuse Israeli authorities abuse and beatings
Palestinian workers who were being held in Israel until they were expelled last week are coming forward with allegations against Israeli authorities, accusing them of “torture.”
Workers who have spoken to media outlets claim they were stripped naked and held in cages. They also claimed to have been brutally beaten and given electric shocks. Six human rights organizations were notified after they were arrested following the Hamas attack on Oct. 7.
