1. One year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death
Today marks the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Kate Middleton attended the service at St. Davids Cathedral in Wales, which was attended by Prince William.
Elizabeth II was the head of England’s Royal Family and led the Western world in diplomacy for 70 years. She died at 96, making her Britain’s longest reigning monarch.
2. American trapped in Turkish Cave
Mark Dickey from the United States is currently stuck about 3,600 ft underground in southern Turkey. According to the Turkish Caving Federation, he fell ill with suspected gastrointestinal hemorrhaging last weekend.
Dickey was exploring the Morca Sinkhole, which is located in Morca Valley near Anamur. Around 182 people are currently working on the site to rescue him, including 32 individuals who are still inside the cave.
Dickey, who is currently in stable condition, is due to undergo a rescue operation on Saturday.
