1. UAW launches historic strike

The United Auto Workers began a historic strike on Thursday night. They targeted all three major automakers in Detroit at the same time.

After their contracts expired on Thursday at 11:59 pm, union members in assembly plants located in Michigan, Missouri and Ohio, went on strike. The UAW calls the strike “Stand Up Strike” and targets the three largest automakers in the area: Ford Motor Co. General Motors and Stellantis.

The UAW President Shawn Fain says that this tactic will “keep companies guessing”.

2. Hunter Biden is indicted for federal gun charges

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has been indicted on federal gun charges, marking the first time in U.S. history the Justice Department has charged the child of a sitting president.
