Are You Embarrassed at Flipping Out? If You’re Hysterical, It’s Historical

 My email was having issues lately. Because of my past experiences with technical support, I was afraid to call them. They were slow and tedious and they read from a script. Instead of helping me think creatively about my problem. However, since I could not fix the problem myself and felt I had no other options, I called my internet service provider’s technical support line.

As usual, we barely made it past the point that I had repeatedly repeated my name (and account number) to four different people after thirty minutes of talking on the phone. After another hour of trying to resolve my problem over the phone, the technical support representative lost some emails.

I’m not going to sugarcoat this. I was a ballista.

Like most people, I’ve spent many hours of my life on the phone with technical support representatives, attempting to fix something that is very important to my life and my livelihood—my computer, my internet connection, my phone, etc. When they can’t fix the problem, I become completely hateful toward them. It is this one area, for some reason that makes me the worst version of myself.
