
Tonight at 7:30 pm EST, the former president Donald Trump will surrender to authorities in Georgia.
“ARREST TIME: 7:30 P.M.,” Trump posted on his Truth Social page earlier today.
Trump Surrender
Trump and some of his closest allies, such as former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and lawyer Rudy Giuliani, were indicted just a few short weeks ago. In addition to John Eastman and Sidney Powell among others, the 41 counts name Kenneth Chesebro (former White House chief of staff), Jenna Ellis and Ray Smith.
All have been accused of violating Georgia RICO (Racketeer Influeced and Corrupted Organizations Act). Trump was also charged with several conspiracy charges and felony racketeering. The minimum sentence is one year for conspiracy, and the racketeering charges carry a sentence between five and twenty years.
The indictments focus on fake electors who worked on behalf of the Trump team — those who falsely claimed to be Georgia’s official electors and signed certificates incorrectly asserting that Trump had won the state’s electorates.
