
Ryan White was initially reluctant to direct a documentary on Pamela Anderson. But he quickly changed his mind after getting to know the woman behind this pop culture icon.
White hopes Anderson will be appreciated by new audiences through this show. Pamela, A Love Story.
“It was an important story because I first read Pamela’s manuscript for her memoir and… Sonia Baghdady tells him that he thought it was a wild life story. Make an appointment now. “And so more important than I had ever thought.”
Anderson is often portrayed as a mysterious, large-than-life figure. White however says that his role in researching and documenting Anderson’s story was extremely “humanizing.” Anderson became a national icon through stories about her children and failed relationships.
White continues, “The joy in my job was getting acquainted with this icon and then realizing how incredible human and how incredibly relateable Pamela” adding, “I think Pamela’s a very relatable person considering her fame.” The idea was to bottle this feeling up and make it a film format. This would allow the audience to feel a kinship with Pamela.
