Sometimes I write about how a positive start to the day can lead to a great day.
Your day will be defined by whether you are social, energetic or productive.
You may not be able to get off to a great start on certain days.
You may have slept poorly. Perhaps the gray skies or cold fall rain are keeping you from getting enough energy.
You might feel drained or lacking in motivation after a difficult first half of the day.
What do you do next? What should you do?
Well, today isn’t over yet…
You might still be able to make something of it.
Here’s how I do that by breaking the negative mood and getting a new start.
1. Be grateful for what you already have.
This is the simplest of all my favorite pick-me ups.
I sit silently for about two minutes, and then take a break.
I think to myself, “Okay, maybe I don’t feel so good right at the moment, but what can you be grateful for?”
I always come up short with the following:
- My favorite food.
- My health.
- I am grateful that I have a roof over me.
It is that one thing that opens my eyes. It helps me to redirect my thoughts away from negativity.
Next, I build on that one thing.
